Flying to Sharm El Sheikh


Sharm El Sheikh, a small fishing village of one time has become a major tourist attraction in Egypt and is visited by many of the tourists every year. Being visited by large number of tourists Sharm el-Sheikh Airport is one of the busiest airports in Sinai. Lots of charter tourist planes along with the international flight touches the airport on a regular basis in winter season. For the locals the only airlines to take them to Sharm el-Sheikh are the EgyptAir. Sharm el-Sheikh is the gateway to Sinai and hence all the tourists traveling to Sinai have to go through Sharm el-Sheikh. The Sharm el-Sheikh airport is about 15km from the city center and is about a 20-minute drive. Sharm el-Sheikh Ras Nasrani Airport is the primary destination of the tourists traveling to Sharm el-Sheikh.

Sharm el-Sheikh airport is located just off the main road, which follows the coast and could be reached easily with the public transport from the city center or by your private vehicle. It takes about 20-minute drive from both the sides, airport to city and city to airport. The car hire facility is also available in the city and at the airport, which allows you to explore the place as per your liking. Sharm el-Sheikh airport is located at Ras Nasrani, Egypt and has an airport code of SSSH. For the first time travelers it must be noted that the airport is located at northeast of Sharm el Sheikh, close to Ras Nasrani.

The airport has only two terminals, one of which was inaugurated in May 2007 and hence the number of international flights coming to Sharm el Sheikh is not as much as they are in the other parts. Hence sometimes it gets hard to get tickets for the travel. So if you are flying to Sharm el Sheikh then you must book your ticket well in advance. So that you can reach the destination right on time. Similarly being located at 15km from the city the airport has a driving distance of twenty minutes either by public transport or by private vehicle hence if you have to catch a flight then plan the travel keeping the traffic in mind.

The Sharm el Sheikh airport has all the facilities that you want at an international airport. The cafes and parking are easily accessible and hence you won’t be feeling any trouble at the airport neither reaching here nor at the airport.

If you like scuba diving or snorkeling then Sharm el Naga is the place to visit. Just a couple of miles outside Hurghada and the beach and reef is superb for us diving/scuba diving beginners..
