About Africa
Africa is known as the ‘ Dark Continent '. Geologists consider that Africa is the original homeland of human being. Proofs of human evolution found here makes the continent a hotbed of discussion for scientists as well as scholars. There is difference of opinion among etymologist about the name ‘ Africa '. Some considers it as a Latin word ‘aprica' which refers to ‘sunny', others think it is a Greek word ‘aphrike' means ‘without cold'. Interestingly, some attribute this name to Roman history, it is said that people living in the northern part of Africa were called ‘afri', and the Roman after their conquest added a suffix ‘ca' which refers to ‘land' or ‘country'.
Whatever may be the reason for the origin of the name but it is true that Africa is a beautiful and diverse continent. After Asia , Africa is the second largest continent of the world in terms of land and population. About 14 per cent of the world population resides here. Africa brags of broadest range of wild animals, ranging from rare amphibians to carnivores. This maybe due to it's broad range of climate, with jungles and deserts alike.

Once upon a time, Africa had different groups of ancient tribes, due to this reason we find cultural variations from country to country. Variety of musical techniques, art forms and religions are found in the land of Africa . From South Africa to Egypt , the continent is constantly changing and diverse. Africa is passing through the pangs of transformation, that is, tradition and traditional outlook is gradually but steadily transforming into modern and global aspect. In urban areas western values are predominating.
More or less in present times when we think about Africa , yet a picture of forests and lovely wild animals figures in our mind. No doubt, it's true! The continent posses many adventures safaris, all full of amazing surprises. But remember, these savannas and jungles of Africa are only a sample of surprises. In South Africa , one can find resorts, hotels and casinos which may rival Las Vegas counterparts. Vacation in Africa offers a range of entertainment, breathtaking beaches and exciting casino gambling. All such enjoyment fits according to one's pocket or budget.
In the northern part of Africa , one can relish golden sand beach at the Red Sea and coastal Mediterranean . The desert odyssey may give you a faint glimpse of California , Palm Springs , except with miles of amazingly exquisite golden sand beaches. In the Indian Ocean Africa have several beautiful island resorts. Tourists can enjoy these small resorts with private bungalow. The waters in these regions are clean and uncontaminated, perfect for snorkeling and sailing. Canary and Morocco Islands in the north-west may give you entirely different feeling and atmosphere. Furthermore, Cannes and Monte Carlo on the Atlantic coast represents modern Africa , but remember it may discomfort your wallet.
